CHALLENGE 1:
EXPANDING SUPPORT FOR SOCIAL INNOVATORS IN INDONESIA
This social innovation accelerator in Jakarta, provides social entrepreneurs with training, connection to capital and consulting services.
Challenge:
Indonesia is comprised of 17,500 islands spanning 5,000 km However, 56% of the country’s population lives on the island of Java, home to the country’s capital, Jakarta, where most economic activity is focused.
This has led to significant economic disparity between Java and Indonesia’s other islands, in terms of investment, regional development and educational opportunities.
Team Deliverable:
The team assigned to this challenge will develop a business plan to establish additional social innovation accelerators in four cities outside of Jakarta/Java that will be able to generate sustainable revenue streams – drawing on each of those cities’ strengths to help boost their local economies.
