Zoe Newman

Japan & Israel

Zoe Newman is associate manager at JETRO’s (Japan External Trade Organization) Tel Aviv office, where she is expanding and promoting trade and business relations between Japan and Israel. At JETRO, Zoe works to support Israeli companies in entering the Japanese market and vice versa.

Zoe hopes to share her unique experience as Jewish-American, Japanese-Israeli having been raised in both the US and Japan – and now as a new immigrant to Israel – with this year’s cohort, having, in her own words, “simultaneously belonged and not belonged in every country I have lived in.”

After graduating from the University of Washington with a B.A. in International Relations and a year studying at Waseda University in Tokyo, Zoe worked in Tokyo as a business intelligence and media attribution analyst at Oak Lawn Marketing, an NTT Docomo subsidiary.

Some of Zoe’s previous work included serving as a program manager at Refugees Coordination Committee Japan, developing support programs and language classes for Burmese refugees in Tokyo, and conducting research on refugee rights in Japan at Refugees International Japan.
